ATTENTION: New computer virus locks files and demands payment!

It’s called the CryptoLocker 2.0. It blocks users from accessing their files, steals valuable information, and then makes you pay to get it back.

You accidentally click a bad link on the web and then you’re encouraged to download Adobe Flash. Once it’s on your computer it spreads and then locks you out. Your files are locked away using ‘bank-level’ encryption, so even with the most advanced technology, it could take decades to decrypt.

Once you’re infected, keep in mind that the only way to get access to your files is to pay up. Depending on how valuable the hackers think your information is, you could be forced to pay from a few hundred dollars to ten thousand dollars. Even then, you might get locked out again.

A preventive tip is to back-up and create restore points. Because that’s the only way to make sure your information is safe and secure.

It’s also important to note, that if the virus is connected to an internal network of computers or an internet connection, it could self-infect several others.

Geeks on Site is here to support you with antivirus and preventive tips. Please be very careful on clicking any suspicious links as unfortunately there are no available solutions to unlock the encrypted files infected by the CryptoLocker 2.0 virus.
