Your Guide to the Windows 10 Release

Follow this Windows 10 guide to install your free Windows 10 upgrade when it is released July 29th , 2015. Now is the moment to decide if you will make the upgrade.
Are you running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? Have you been receiving deploys for the update? The “Get Windows 10” application exhibiting the release is your chance to reserve your copy of Windows 10. We highly recommend taking action, making your reservation for Windows 10 today.

If you don’t know how to do this, it´s simple. You will want to look towards the bottom of your computer screen. There on the tool bar, in right hand corner, there will be a tiny Windows icon. Click this icon and follow the application that pops up, prompting you to make a reservation before the official release date of Windows 10.

If you have already reserved your copy of Windows 10, your PC will automatically download Windows 10 in fragments before its official release date. Once the final Windows 10 is released, you won´t need to download massive installations from Microsoft.

While the upgrade process should not erase your personal files, we recommend backing up all of your data. This will allow you to uninstall Windows 10 or have a backup if something goes wrong. You can choose to back up your data via One Drive or a local external hard drive.

If you chose not to reserve Windows 10, but you do have a qualified computer, you will have one year to make the upgrade for free.

After July 29th, you will have a variety options in order to install this new operating system. You can choose to do a clean install, use a virtual machine or boot up via dual boot by locating the system on a separate partition. The other option is to install the operating system using an in-place install. However, choosing to do an in- place install will write over your existing operating system, but save your preferences and installed apps.
The update process is expected to take roughly an hour, and should be relatively painless.
